The Club closed in October 2019 due to reduced membership. In 2020, the community won against a plan to build two large blocks of flats on the site. In December 2021 the Club announced the sale of the site to Noah Developments. In July 2022 Noah made a second application to build on the site. It has taken almost 3 years to come to the Planning Committee. We are contesting this, again, as the community still shows a strong need to preserve the green open space as a whole for many beneficial uses. Despite the now dilapidated state, we still see the potential in this space for future generations. In May 2025, the ‘new’ application was sent to a Hearing, set for 16 September. It is clear that to enable the club to operate in a financially solvent manner there is a need to consider alternative means of income.
