Fifty years of progress and achievement, a period through which its members have displayed foresight and courage, friendship and camaraderie worthy of the name Mount Florida. Let us all endeavor to worthily maintain the club’s fine tradition, inspired, we trust, by the unselfish devotion in integrity of our predecessors, to whom the club meant so much and to whom the Club owes so much.
Dr. David Lamb and his visionary Gentlemen deserve the unstinting appreciation of the community for their initiative and courage in undertaking, at considerable sacrifice, to carry the proposal into effect. In consequence, members of Mount Florida Bowling Club, have inherited a birthright to be proud of, where everyone has a part to play and contribution to make, towards the fulfilment of the high ideals envisaged by the founders of the club.
In October 2018 the members held a special meeting where the options for disposal of the club was discussed. Various options were put to the members but a motion proposed by Mr. N Chisolm that the members give the board permission to appoint an agent leaving the club members with limited liability. This motion was passed and disposal of the club was decided. The intention being to close and sell the Bowling Club after October 2019.
In 2019 Mount Florida Community Trust was set up. The intention being for a community ‘right to buy’, thus continuing to retain the green space for future generations. We the community of Mount Florida intend to uphold the original vision of the founding father Dr. David Lamb.
