Community Petition

In April/May 2019 our fantastic team of volunteers went knocking on doors in Mount Florida, collecting signatures on our Petition gathering local support for our aim of acquiring the Bowling Club for community use. Anyone over the age of 16 who is registered to vote in the Mount Florida Community Council area (you can check the map here: www.moflococo.org/catchment-area-map/) was eligible to sign the petition. It had to be signed in person, ink-on-paper (old school!) and we are grateful to Sunshine No.1, Tesco’s on Cathcart Road opposite Mt Florida Primary and several local cafes for holding paper copies for residents to sign. When the petition was closed, the final tally was 1201 signatures. Once verified against the Electoral Roll, 1000 were eligible to be counted in the supporting evidence for the foundation of the Trust (as a side note, do make sure you are registered to vote!).
